Among the reasons for the recent depreciation of hryvnia – the purchase of foreign currency by importers, VAT refunds and payments to non-residents for state bonds, UNIAN reports.

The depreciation of the hryvnia to the US dollar in July by almost 50 cents at the official rate is due to an increase in demand for currency in the non-cash market under the influence of short-term factors, including the purchase of foreign currency by importers, VAT refunds and payments to non-residents on hryvnia bonds of domestic state loans. On Monday, July 30, the exchange rate of hryvnia against the US dollar in the interbank foreign exchange market of Ukraine was close to trading at 26.83 / 26.87 hryvnia / dollar, before the closing of trading hryvnia fell to a dollar at 11 cents.
