President Petro Poroshenko has ordered the National Security and Defense Council to be prepared to counter the interference in the Ukrainian elections, reports Ukrainska Pravda.
“The next year, Ukraine, and many of our partners expect significant elections that will determine the pace and the quality of our development and interactions in the mid-term perspective,” he wrote on Twitter.
“I instruct the National Security and Defense Council to conduct a separate meeting on opposition to interference in the elections,” the president said.
“Without any doubt, the Kremlin will try to intervene in Ukrainian elections, but this time we will be ready to counteract any interference of any kind, regardless of whether they are campaigns with misinformation or cyber attacks,” Poroshenko said.
He also announced an agreement with the leaders of the European Union and the United States to “closely coordinate” efforts and interact at all levels.
