Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew at the meeting in Istanbul told the primate of the Russian Orthodox Church, Patriarch Kirill, who is going to give the Ukrainian Orthodox Church an autocephaly. This is reported by the Archbishop Yevstratiy (Zorya), the UOC-KP spokeswoman, writes UNIAN.
“The first talks in Phanar: Patriarch Kirill did not achieve everything for which he was traveling”, he writes.
According to Yevstratiy, after the meeting of the patriarchs with the journalists, Metropolitan Emmanuel came out and said that “we informed the patriarch (Kirill – UP) about the decision to overcome the division in Ukraine and the provision of implemented autocephaly”.
“Later, the official text is expected, so the statement may not be literal. As a whole, the outcome of the talks for Ukraine gives grounds for restrained optimism, but one should not forget that” the devil hides in details”, Zorya said.
