The Verkhovna Rada adopted in the second reading and in general the bill 6109, which equates the rights and opportunities of women and men in the Armed Forces and other military formations. Appropriate decision was supported by 247 people’s deputies at a meeting on September 6, the Ukrainska Pravda reports.
The law lays down the principle that women should be on an equal footing with men in military service (except in cases provided for by the legislation on maternity and childhood protection). Women soldiers will have equal access to positions and military ranks and equal responsibilities. After the adoption of the bill equalizes the deadline for the possibility of contracting for women. This means that they will have time to serve higher officer positions.
