The Grand Chamber of the Supreme Court of Ukraine has decided to recognize the unlawful refusal to issue a passport of a citizen of Ukraine in the form of a booklet, Ukrainska Pravda informs.
The plaintiff appealed to the court, contesting the production of a passport of a citizen of Ukraine in the form of a card with a contactless electronic carrier, which will contain her personal data. The petition appealed to the court was motivated with religious convictions. The parishioner of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Moscow Patriarchate considers it the humiliating appropriation by a person of identity number which, in her opinion, is an analog of the name, as well as the imposition of a bar code on a document certifying a person. In the decision the court noted that the introduction of the latest technologies should not be non-alternative and compulsory.
