The representative of Ukraine in the humanitarian subgroup of the Trilateral Contact Group on the situation in the Donbas Iryna Herashchenko supported the idea of transferring the talks from Minsk to a neutral territory, Hromadske reports.
Iryna Herashchenko wrote that she advocated for a long time and repeatedly publicly expressed her disagreement and indignation with the Belarusian vote in the UN on all issues concerning Ukraine, the annexed Crimea, and the occupied Donbas.
“I am for transferring the venue to a truly neutral country that will not play along Moscow and will not vote with the Kremlin in unison – against Ukraine,” Gerashchenko said.
“The reference to the neutral status of Belarus can’t face any criticism, as neutral countries (as demonstrated by the current vote on the inclusion of the occupation of the Crimea and the Donbas issues in the agenda of the 73rd session of the UN General Assembly) abstained, pushed the yellow button. Belarus in its turn acted on the same front with the RF and entered the shameful ’13’ who voted against by pressing the red button. This is not a neutral position. This is a complete playing in favor of Moscow. And this position completely contradicts the status of the country, which is the platform for peaceful negotiations on the settlement of the situation in the Donbas,” she added.
Volodymyr Yelchenko, the Permanent Representative of Ukraine to the UN, backed the idea to transfer international negotiations on the settlement of the situation in the Donbas from Minsk to another capital.
