The Patriarchate of Constantinople says that it never transmitted the Kievan Metropolia, on the basis of which the Ukrainian Church arose, to the canonical territory of the Moscow Patriarchate. This is stated in the document published by the patriarchate, reports “Echo of Moscow”

The right of conscription (the appointment of priests) was given to Moscow “for financial reasons”, “from necessity” and “was of a temporary nature.” Thus, the Ecumenical Patriarch declares that he has the right and duty to show paternal care about the Church of Ukraine in each case if he considers it necessary. It is noted that Constantinople has published a 29-page long document, which was prepared with the support of the educational fund of the National Bank of Greece.
