Ukrainian Foreign Minister Pavlo Klimkin has said that Hungary should recall its consul from Berehove (Zakarpattia region) by the end of this week, Ukrainska Pravda reports.
“I proposed that the Hungarian minister recall this consul. If this won’t be done this week, we will send a note to the Hungarian side about his expulsion,” he said in a video address published on his personal page on Facebook on Monday, October 1.
Ukrainian media earlier reported about the issuance of Hungarian passports to Ukrainian citizens at the Hungarian consulate in Berehove in Zakarpattia region. A video clip was published showing persons taking an oath calling Hungary their homeland, as well as pledging to serve the country. Media said Hungarian diplomats urged the gathered ones not to inform Ukrainian state agencies that they obtained Hungarian citizenship.
