Ukraine has announced the consul of Hungary in the city of Beregove persona non grata, reports Ukrainska Pravda.
“He was given a note stating that, in accordance with Article 23 of the Vienna Convention on Consular Relations of 1963, in connection with activities incompatible with the status of a consular officer, the Consul of Hungary in the city of Beregove should leave the territory of Ukraine during subsequent 72 hours,” reads the statement of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The Foreign Ministry said they were expecting “that the Hungarian side will continue to refrain from any hostile steps towards Ukraine and its officials from violations of Ukrainian legislation.” As reported, Ukraine and Hungary are in a state of a new progressing crisis. It was caused by a video from the ceremony of accepting of Hungarian citizenship by Zakarpattia region citizens, which took place at the consulate in Beregove. Consul urged to hide their citizenship from the Ukrainian authorities.
