Valery Maksymenko, deputy director of the Federal Service for the Execution of Sentences, confirmed that medical workers were preparing to switch to the forced feeding of the Ukrainian director Oleg Sentsov. In an interview with the Russian newspaper Izvestia, Maximenko explained that such measures were necessary to “save the life” for Sentsov.

Valery Maksymenko said: “If the refusal of food continued, then Sentsov could become not just a “vegetable“, but even a “plant“. “But the threats of forced feeding – well, what can be called the threat of introducing into the course of treatment of the patient? In this case, Sentsov was told that we will fight for his life and health and we won’t let him die. The other was at his discretion”.
