Following the decision of the Synod to continue providing autocephaly to Ukraine, Interior Minister Arsen Avakov called for the prevention of religious provocations and speculations, reports Hromadske.
“If there is a need to counteract extremism and religious hatred, (MIA – Ed.) Will act rigidly. Let it not become a surprise for all ‘daredevils’,” the minister said. He urged political and public figures to refrain from provocations and attempts to destabilize the situation in the country.
On October 11, the Synod of the Ecumenical Patriarchate supported the continuation of the granting of autocephaly of Ukraine, and also officially confirmed that the church is the mother of Ukraine is Constantinople. Also, the Synod recognized the invalid anathema of the head of the UOC-KP Filaret and the head of the Ukrainian Autocephalous Orthodox Church of Macarius.
