Political prisoner Roman Sushchenko, convicted in Russia for espionage to 12 years in prison, became the laureate of the prize for the protection of freedom of speech named after Ihor Lubchenko from the National Union of Journalists of Ukraine, reports Hromadske.
“The jury unanimously recognizes the journalist, our colleague Roman Sushchenko, as a laureate. Roman is a courageous Ukrainian journalist, he sets an example, and today he is an example of courage and an example of a Ukrainian journalist, who does not obey circumstances. His letters, his work is an example for us and for international journalists,” said Tomilenko. In Kyiv, the award was given to the daughter of a journalist, Yulia Sushchenko.
