Patriarch of Constantinople, Bartholomew, said that the Russian Orthodox Church should accept the autocephaly of the Ukrainian church, reports UNIAN.

“It is difficult for her (the Russian Orthodox Church – ed.) to understand that the Ecumenical Patriarchate has liberated so many peoples in the Balkans, thereby weakening itself, but recognizing their right to internal self-government, church independence, autocephaly… And Moscow should admit that the Ukrainian people, whom it received for several centuries in its jurisdiction in a non-Orthodox way, or more precisely in the administration of these people’s right to church independence, to autocephaly”, Bartholomew said.

As UNIAN reported, on November 3, Poroshenko and Bartholomew signed an agreement on cooperation and cooperation between Ukraine and the Ecumenical Patriarchate.
