French President Emmanuel Macron and German Chancellor Angela Merkel called for an exchange of hostages in the Donbas and the release of political prisoners before the end of the year.
This is stated in a statement by the spokesman for the German government, Stefan Seibert, on behalf of the leaders of France and Germany after their meeting with President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko in Paris on November 11 posted on the website of the German government, UNIAN reports.

“They strongly supported the exchange of hostages and the release of political prisoners by the end of this year,” the statement says. Macron and Merkel also congratulated the continuation by the Verkhovna Rada of the law “On the special order of local self-government in certain districts of Donetsk and Lugansk regions” until December 31, 2019.
