Yesterday, in the territory of occupied Donetsk and Luhansk regions the so-called “elections” of the self-proclaimed republics’ leaders took place. “Voting”, of course, has already ended, and “official” reports of militants indicate a fairly large percentage of voters’ participation. More about illegal “elections” of even more illegal “republics” – in reactions from Opinion.
President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko stressed that the entire civilized world condemned the “elections” that Russia held in the occupied part of the Donbas, and added that no one will recognize them. Also, Petro Poroshenko said that the leaders of Germany and France took the same stance on it. They also condemned the holding of “elections” in the occupied territory.
However, in order to understand what happened in the territories temporarily occupied by the aggressor, let’s turn to SBU post. According to the Security Service, the performance took place in the best traditions of USSR times. At the polling stations, they were selling cheap bread, vegetables, and oils. Furthermore, for some time, one of the “voting” leaders was… Chuck Norris.
Journalist and blogger Denys Kazanskyi also wrote about something like this. At the time of posting, the leaders of so-called “elections” were potatoes and cabbage, and the second place was occupied by carrots and onions. In short, nothing unexpected or new.
MP Oleh Lyashko in his turn told that during so-called “elections” even fairs with competitions took place. However, this was not an expression of will, but an imitation of the electoral process at gunpoint. As for the winners, the leader of “Radical Party” admits that he doesn’t care about their surnames since all the leaders of terrorists will finish the same way as their predecessors.
Political expert Olexiy Minakov is sure that the results were drawn before the vote, and Russia organizes these pseudo-elections solely on the basis of strategic preparations. So that the new, more flexible Ukrainian government that may replace “junta” can negotiate with these so-called representatives of “DPR” and “LPR”. Let’s say, not with military commanders, but with “white-collars”.
However, according to expert, in this strategic plan of the Kremlin, they underestimate a lot all tactical risks and negative consequences for Russia itself. For even the fact that no country in the world except Russia and its “satellites” does not recognize pseudo-elections, moreover this provocation can lead to bigger sanctions against Russia.
Dmytro Lytvyn, a blogger and columnist, has published the headlines of one of the leading Ukrainian media. From them, we can see the reactions to fake elections. However, these are the headlines from 2014, when the previous “elections” took place in the occupied territories. In general, they reacted the same way. Four years have passed, and we are at the same point.
MP Ihor Mosiychuk said that so-called “elections” of leaders of the terrorist groups “LPR” and “DPR” is difficult to even name pseudo-elections because, in fact, it is a procedure for selecting future ritual victims who, as terrorist leaders will be liquidated either by Ukrainian secret services, or will be cleared out by Russians.
And now let’s talk a bit about voters’ participation of so-called elections. As the analyst of “Donetsk Institute of Information” Vitaliy Syzov notes, the terrorist organization “DPR” assures that 1 million 600 thousand people voted during their elections. If you divide it into 408 polling stations, then there will be around 3921 voters per one polling station. In other words, with such a participation the station should simply have collapsed. But, of course, it is possible not to collapse, especially if the results are drawn on paper in advance.
But that’s not the end! The analyst has made even more detailed calculations, and that’s what he got. If we divide the number of voters by the number of stations, as we already know, it’s 3921 voters per polling station. In election commissions, as a rule, there are 16-20 people working, and this considers to be a large commission. Ballots are issued by two people, who at the same time are filling out the documentation. Ballots can be issued at six tables (12 people), as the other members of the commission are busy with additional organizational moments of work. Assuming that all six tables issued ballots and people were constantly coming to them, and for one “vote” was spent around 3 minutes, then it turns out that the whole polling station would have needed… almost 33 hours to allow everyone to vote. That is, the pseudo-elections should have ended almost one day later. This is the math we have.
Dmytro Tymchuk, a blogger and coordinator of the “Information Resistance” group, also commented on the so-called “election” of terrorists’ leaders. According to his observations, shortly before the day of pseudo-elections, some local resources launched an online poll to find whether people were going to “vote”. So, the percentage of those who were going to take part in this terrorist circus was at most 18.39%.
According to the journalist, besides various attempts to “lure” voters, the invaders invented a know-how. In particular, state employees were ordered to come to the “vote” exclusively from 14:00 to 15:00. This was necessary in order to create a “picture” for the Russian media – this period of “extraordinary activity at polling stations” was broadcasted by Kremlin’s media. These are “elections” that Moscow decided to make.
