The rates of economic growth in Ukraine are insufficient to restore the welfare of the population. This was stated by President Petro Poroshenko at a meeting of the Regional Development Council in Kyiv, Ukrainska Pravda reports.
“Although we have regained economic growth, its pace is not enough now for people in all regions and social strata without exception, so that we no longer were one of the poorest countries in Europe,” said Poroshenko.
The President acknowledged the poor but compelled Cabinet decision to raise gas tariffs for the population.
According to Poroshenko, the government did not have a choice between a good and bad scenario.
