The General Prosecutor’s Office detained a former sniper on suspicion of killing one of the activists of EuroMaydan on the Instytutska street in Kiev on February 20, 2014. After serving in internal forces, the detainee transferred to the newly formed National Guard of Ukraine, reports UNIAN.

The ex-sniper was arrested only now since the evidence that allowed to make a legitimate suspicion was just gathered. The detainee was suspected of committing a crime under Art. 115 Part 2 (“intentional murder”) and of Art. 365  Part 3 (“excess of authority by an employee of a law enforcement agency”), and on November 3, the court applied to him a preventive measure in the form of detention.
