President Petro Poroshenko signed a law approving the decree on imposing of a martial law in Ukraine. This is reported by the press secretary of the head of state Svyatoslav Tsegolko in Facebook.

The bill approving the presidential decree “On the introduction of a martial law in Ukraine” was received by Petro Poroshenko on November 28 with the signature of Speaker Andrii Parubiy. Now the law must be promulgated in the official press of the Ukrainian authorities – the newspaper “Holos Ukrainy”.

The deputies adopted this bill on November 26. It approves the Presidential Decree No. 393 of November 26, 2018 “On the Introduction of the martial law in Ukraine” with the following warning: the martial law is introduced in the Vinnitsa, Lugansk, Mykolaiv, Odesa, Sumy, Kharkiv, Chernihiv, Donetsk, Zaporizhia, Kherson regions and Inland waters of Ukraine in the Azov-Kerch water area.

According to the annex to the bill, the military situation in Ukraine will be introduced from 14:00 on November 26, 2018, for 30 days – until 14:00, December 26, 2018.

The introduction of a martial law was triggered by the fact that on November 25, Russian border guards fired Ukrainian military ships in the Kerch Strait and seized two small armored artillery boats “Berdyansk” and “Nikopol” and a raiding tugs “Yany Kapu” along with 24 sailors, three of them, according to information verified by Russians, were injured.
