President Petro Poroshenko introduced to the Verkhovna Rada a draft law on the termination of the Treaty on Friendship, Cooperation and Partnership between Ukraine and the Russian Federation, Ukrainska Pravda writes.
The bill №0206, defined as urgent, was introduced by the head of state on December 3. At the same time, the text of the draft law on the Parliament’s website is currently absent.
As it was reported, on September 24 Russia received an official note from Kyiv on non-renewal of the Treaty on Friendship between Ukraine and the Russian Federation.
The decree on the enactment of the relevant decision of the National Security and Defense Council, President Petro Poroshenko, was signed on September 17th and after the publication of September 19, it came into force.
The Treaty on Friendship, Cooperation and Partnership between Ukraine and the Russian Federation was signed in May 1997 and entered into force on April 1, 1999 for a period of 10 years, with an automatic extension for the next decade, in the absence of the parties’ objection.
