The Verkhovna Rada adopted in the second reading a bill on the adjacent zone of Ukraine, which actually increases the control area in the Black Sea. According to the decision on Thursday, 244 deputies voted, reports Ukrainska Pravda.

“Adoption of the law will allow to expand the controlled area at sea by 12 nautical miles, it will create grounds for a significant reduction of smuggling traffic in the Black Sea, prevent cases of violation of the state border, will positively affect the security situation in the region and ensure the economic sovereignty of Ukraine,” the explanatory memorandum says. The law states that the adjacent zone of Ukraine will be 24 miles.
