The Verkhovna Rada adopted the Law “On the Termination of the Treaty on Friendship, Cooperation and Partnership between Ukraine and the Russian Federation” (№ 0206), introduced by the President of Ukraine. As UNIAN correspondent reports, 277 people’s deputies voted for the law.
The “Opposition bloc” faction did not vote in full. 6 deputies from the group “Will of the people” and 4 from the group “Revival” have voted “for”.
Since April 1, 2019, the law terminates operation of the Treaty on Friendship, Cooperation and Partnership between Ukraine and Russia, which was implemented on May 31, 1997, in Kyiv and ratified by the Verkhovna Rada on January 14, 1998. The law states that the termination of the treaty happened due to Russia’s armed aggression against Ukraine, which constitutes a significant breach of this treaty.
