The bodies of 3 sailors who died after the shipwreck near the shores of the Samsun province in Turkey, were handed over to relatives in Ukraine. This was reported by the Consul of the Embassy of Ukraine in Turkey Borys Yasinsky, writes Ukrinform.
According to him, the body of another Ukrainian remains unidentified, after futile attempts to find him, the search was stopped. “The bodies of three Ukrainian sailors who died after the catastrophe of a merchant ship off the coast of Samsun on January 7, were delivered to Ukraine and transferred to relatives in Odesa, Kharkiv and Cherkasy.
According to unofficial Turkish rescue authorities, the search operation was stopped from yesterday. Such a decision was taken because in the continuation of the operation do not see any more sense”, said the consul.
He added that the bodies of two sailors were not found: one citizen of Ukraine and a captain, a citizen of Azerbaijan. “The body of one Ukrainian citizen remains unidentified, it is possible that the body will not be found. Now the embassy is taking steps to obtain official information on disappearance”.
