Minister for Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Pavlo Klimkin stood up for dual citizenship for representatives of the Ukrainian diaspora. He stated this on Radio Culture during the ceremony of the Women in Arts Award.

Commenting on the lack of a simplified procedure for obtaining citizenship in Ukraine or the acquisition of dual citizenship for the Ukrainian diaspora from Canada, the United States, the Czech Republic, and other countries, he replied: “I am in favor of dual citizenship for such Ukrainians and I consistently speak for it. I believe that we simply have to set the criteria. Of course, we should try to achieve that.”

“We are losing thousands and thousands of Ukrainians who could work here, and not only in state bodies or in any bureaucracy, or in business, but also to create contemporary Ukrainian culture,” Klimkin said.
