Lithuanian deputy Andrius Kubilius was crossed from the list of candidates for the post of Secretary General of the Council of Europe. On Wednesday, the Committee of Ministers approved a formal decision, which sent two candidates to the PACE – Croatian Maria Peichinovich-Burich and Belgian Didier Reynders.
Former Lithuanian Prime Minister Andrius Kubilius and Greek Dora Bakoyannis were expelled from the list of candidates. The agreement on this was reached between the member states of the Council of Europe, confirming the sources of European truth. Lithuanian media, referring to their sources, confirm data that Kubilius has left these races.
The data on the choice of only two was also confirmed on Twitter by the Speaker of the Council of Europe Daniel Holtgen: “The Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe submitted two candidates to the Parliamentary Assembly for the post of Secretary General of the Council of Europe to be elected in June: Maria Peichinovich-Burich and Didier Reynders“.
