The Kyiv District Court of Simferopol in the occupied Crimea arrested all detainees during searches of the Crimean Tatars until May 15.
“27 and March 28, the Kyiv District Court of Simferopol chose preventive measure for all 23 of the detained Crimean Tatar activists. All hearings were held in closed session. The court’s decision on all defendants was identical: preventive measure in the form of detention to May 15, 2019,” the statement reads.
Recall that on March 27, in the annexed Crimea, Russian security forces conducted at least 25 searches in the homes of the Crimean Tatar activists allegedly participating in the case of Hizb ut-Tahrir al-Islam. At least 20 people were detained, including those who came to support during the search.
