Minister for Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Pavlo Klimkin is sure that Ukraine will not change its foreign policy course regardless of who will lead the state. The head of the ministry told CNBC in an interview.
“I am almost sure that there will be no turning back, turning left or right in foreign policy, Ukrainian society simply will not allow anyone to step aside from the main direction of Ukrainian foreign policy, and it is about ways towards the EU and NATO,” Klimkin expressed his confidence. According to him, in relations between Ukraine and Russia, there should be no changes with the new president, either.
“If you talk to people on the streets, it’s forever. It’s about our mentality, about our history, about us – Ukrainians, Ukraine will continue to move to the transatlantic community, towards NATO, the EU. There may be some differences, timeframes, techniques, but in terms of strategy it is decided by one hundred percent,” he said.
