Head of the Transcarpathian Regional State Administration Gennadiy Moskal has written a resignation letter. The reasons for this decision are still unknown. Moskal had been a chairman of the region from July 2015.

According to local media reports, he wrote a resignation letter back in February this year, but President Petro Poroshenko didn’t endorse the application.

In May 2016, he addressed the Prime Minister Volodymyr Groisman with a request to submit to President Poroshenko an application on his dismissal from the post of the chairman of the Transcarpathian Regional State Administration. The reason for this Moscal called the opposition to his struggle with the “cigarette mafia” in the region.

But shortly after this, Petro Poroshenko met with Gennadiy Moskal, after which the governor refused to quit.
