The Cabinet of Ministers has agreed to dismiss the head of the Odesa regional state administration Maksym Stepanov and the head of the Kherson regional administration Andriy Hordieiev. The corresponding decision was made by the Cabinet on the closed part of the session on Wednesday.
Recall, on Monday, a decree on the dismissal of the chairman of the Odesa regional state administration Maksym Stepanov was published on the President’s website. Stepanov himself refused to leave the post and called the president’s decree illegal. The head of the Odesa region linked the removal to the alleged fact that he “ensured fair elections.”
On July 31, 2018, an unidentified hit activist Kateryna Handziuk in Kherson near the entrance to her apartment. She got into a resuscitation with severe burns, and in 2 months died in a hospital after numerous operations.
The head of the Kherson Regional Administration Andriy Hordieiev and his deputy Yevhen Ryschuk, suspected in involvement in her murder, are temporarily suspended from office.
