President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko and German Chancellor Angela Merkel called on Russia to “Easter Truce” in eastern Ukraine on April 18. They announced this on April 12 at a joint meeting with journalists in Berlin.

“During today’s debate, we supported the Easter ceasefire, it should come into force on April 18, provided that it is implemented by the Russian Federation,” said Poroshenko.

At the meeting of the Minsk Tripartite Contact Group on April 10, the parties agreed to hold negotiations on videoconference on April 18 to coordinate the truce during Easter holidays.
