The incumbent president, Petro Poroshenko, came to the studio of the TV channel “1+1” and invited his opponent Volodymyr Zelensky to join the debates “right now”. But he was in France.

The presenter of the TV program “Pravo na Vladu” said that they had invited both presidential candidates, but only Poroshenko came. The incumbent head of state invited the opponent to the studio for debates.

Later, Zelensky joined the studio via telephone. He said he was currently in France and, according to him, Poroshenko knew it. Zelensky said that he would participate in the debate only on April 19 at the Olympic Stadium.

After a lengthy controversy, when both candidates constantly interrupted each other, Zelensky said again that he would come to the debates on April 19. “And that’s it,” said the showman and hung up on.

Recall that on April 12, Zelensky and Poroshenko will meet with the president of France Emmanuel Macron. Earlier, at the headquarters of Zelensky, it was suggested holding debates via teleconference if Poroshenko decided on April 19 to join the studio of “Suspilne” and not the Olympic Stadium.
