Russian President Vladimir Putin is going to sign a decree on the simplified procedure for obtaining Russian citizenship by residents of the occupied territories of Donetsk and Luhansk regions. This was reported by sources in the state structures of the Russian edition of “Kommersant”.
It is noted that the issue has already been completely worked out and for its final decision, only a corresponding decree of the Russian president is needed.
According to one source, after the elections in Ukraine, Putin will sign a decree.
In particular, the head of the Duma Committee for CIS Affairs, Leonid Kalashnikov, confirmed to the publication that “such a decree can be signed immediately after the elections.”
“Unless there is any political expediency to see how a new Ukrainian president, if there is such, will make or will not make a plan for tackling the situation in the east of Ukraine,” Kalashnikov added.
