On Saturday at 23:00 Kyiv time, the polling station # 900001, located at the Ukrainian Embassy in Australia, has begun its work. It is reported by Yevropeiska pravda.
The polling stations that are situated abroad began their work at 8:00 local time.
The first of the votes for the future head of state began to be casted by voters registered in Australia and New Zealand. The section, formed at the Ukrainian Embassy in the Canberra capital of Australia, opened at 8:00 local time (23:00 on Kyiv time on April 20). Voting on it will last until 20:00 (11:00 am Kyiv time on April 21).
In the first round, 125 voters voted here. It should be noted that 69 of them voted for the incumbent president Pero Poroshenko, 14 voted for Volodymyr Zelensky. This low voter turnout is due to the fact that most Ukrainians in Australia do not live in the capital. In particular, there is a large community in Sydney, where there are no Ukrainian deputies. The embassy urged all Australian Ukrainians to participate in the presidential election.
