German Chancellor Angela Merkel congratulated Volodymyr Zelensky on victory in the presidential election, promising support of the German government. This is stated in on the website of the Chancellor of Germany on Monday.

“I sincerely congratulate you on the election of the President of Ukraine,” said Angela Merkel.

She stressed that since the Revolution of Dignity, bilateral relations between Ukraine and Germany have been significantly intensified both politically and economically, socially and culturally.

“The stabilization of Ukraine and the peaceful settlement of the conflict are just as important to me as conducting key reforms of the judicial system, decentralization and the fight against corruption,” said Merkel.

The German Chancellor stressed that Berlin will continue to support Ukraine in the struggle for its territorial integrity.

“The German Government will continue to actively support Ukraine in the future, especially in its right to sovereignty and territorial integrity,” the Chancellor said.

She added that it would be a pleasure to take Zelensky in Berlin shortly. “I wish you good luck and success in solving your tasks,” said Merkel.
