Hennadiy Moskal presented a statement to the President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko about the resignation of the head of the Transcarpathian Regional State Administration. The reasons for this decision are still unknown. Moskal has headed the region since July 2015.

According to local media reports, he wrote an application for resignation back in February this year, but President Poroshenko did not approve it.

In May 2016, he, in an open letter, addressed the prime minister, Mr. Groysman, to submit to President Poroshenko a statement on his resignation from the post of the head of the Zakarpattia Regional State Administration. The reason for this according to Moskal was the opposition to his fight against the “cigarette mafia” in the region. However, in a few days, Petro Poroshenko met with Hennadiy Moskal, after which the governor refused to resign.
