Russian President Vladimir Putin and the leader of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, Kim Jong-un, held a two-hour tete-a-tete meeting, during which they discussed relations between the two countries and steps to improve the situation on the Korean peninsula.

“We have just had a fairly thorough conversation tete-a-tete, we talked about the history of our relations, about the present, the prospects for the development of bilateral ties, and, of course, about the situation on the Korean peninsula,” Vladimir Putin said.

Kim Jong-un also said that the conversation with Putin turned out to be very meaningful.

“I came to Russia to exchange views on the situation on the Korean peninsula – this is one of the most urgent problems of the current international agenda – to discuss the methods of peaceful settlement of this issue, to exchange views on the development of our bilateral relations in accordance with the requirements of the new century,” Kim said.
