According to the final results of the presidential election, the showman Volodymyr Zelensky is almost by 48.77 % ahead of Petro Poroshenko. This became known on April 30 during a briefing of the Central Election Commission.
“The number of votes casted for each candidate: Zelensky Volodymyr – 13 541 528 votes, Poroshenko Petro 4 522 450 votes. The percentage of votes submitted for each candidate in relation to the total number of votes: Zelensky – 73.22 %, Poroshenko – 24.45 %,” reads the chairwoman of the commission Tetyana Slipachuk.
According to Ukrainian legislation, the inauguration of the newly elected president should take place not later than 30 days after the official announcement of the results of the election, that is, not later than on June 1. The date of the inauguration shall be approved by the Verkhovna Rada, which shall approve the relevant resolution upon the submission of the speaker by not less than 226 votes.
