The European Parliament has published the first forecast of the results of the elections to the legislative body of 28 EU states, which took place on May 23 – 26.
The European People’s Party will receive most seats – 173. Second place holds Progressive Alliance of Socialists and Democrats – 147 seats. In the third, the movement of French President Emmanuel Macron in an alliance with the Alliance of Liberals and Democrats for Europe (102 seats). European Green Party – 71 seats. Thus, pro-European parties receive 493 of the 751 seats in the European Parliament. Populist and ultra-right parties from France and Italy will receive 57 seats, up 20 more than during the 2014 elections.
