The House of Representatives of the US Congress introduced a draft law which stipulates strengthening the support of Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, expanding its defense assistance and providing our state with the status of the major non-NATO ally of the United States.

“The draft law provides for the possibility of designating Ukraine the as major non-NATO ally of the U.S. for the period from the time of the entry into force of this document to the entry of our state into the North Atlantic Alliance. This status can be used to simplify the procedure for the transfer of means of defense to Ukraine,” the Ukrainian Embassy in the United States said.

The co-authors of the bill were the leaders of the House Committee on Foreign Affairs, Democratic congressman Eliot Engel and Republican Michael McCaul, as well as chairman and co-chairman of the Subcommittee on Europe, Eurasia, Energy and Environment, Democrat William Keating and Republican Adam Kinzinger.
