President Volodymyr Zelensky believes that artillery shelling near Novolugansk in Donetsk region and other settlements on the night of June 7th, which resulted in two Ukrainian soldiers killed and eight injured, speak of Russia’s loss of control over hired guns. Such a statement was made public by the press service of the Presidential Administration on Facebook.
“The shocking violation of the Minsk agreements – the use of artillery – suggests, at least, the partial loss of control over assassins. We hope that the Russian side will regain control over these units,” Zelensky’s administration said.
It is noted that the president expressed his condolences to the families of the dead and thanked for the courage and resistance of the Ukrainian servicemen who were attacked.
He stressed that at the diplomatic level, Ukraine would continue to insist on the cessation of fire and the release of the prisoners.
“The shelling of Ukrainian troops is an obvious attempt to undermine the process of negotiations on a ceasefire, whoever has ordered it – Ukraine’s armed forces will respond rigorously and according to the situation,” Zelensky said.
