President Volodymyr Zelensky delivered a speech at the Constitutional Court, which reviews the constitutionality of his decree on dissolution of the parliament. He stated that his legal position is indisputable and flawless.
In his speech, Zelensky noted that for the first time the president came to the Constitutional Court, and did not just summon judges, and this testifies to his respect for them and the law.
“It’s not for me to tell you what the spirit and the letter of the law is. I’m sure that the decision to dissolve the Verkhovna Rada meets both these criteria,” the head of state said.
According to him, many factors testify to compliance with the “spirit of the law”. In particular, the citizens of Ukraine do not believe the Rada and applaud the decision to dissolve the Rada.
“And now the society is very closely following this case. You know it very well. And I think you will make a fair decision, for which we will not be ashamed both in front of our people, in front of all of Ukraine and our children,” Zelensky stated.
