“Investigators of the State Bureau of Investigations have begun criminal proceedings against the abuse of office by former chairman of the Constitutional Court Stanislav Shevchuk,” said the spokeswoman of the State Burau of Investigations Angelika Ivanova.

According to her, criminal proceedings were initiated after the appeal of the MP, who said that the ex-chairman of the Constitutional Court illegally appointed a freelance advisor, which led to unnecessary budgetary spendings.

It is reported that investigators are currently checking the actions of the former chairman of the Constitutional Court for signs of a criminal offence provided for in Part 1 of article 364 (abuse of power or office) of The Criminal Code of Ukraine.
