Vladimir Putin prefers a wait-and-see attitude towards the President-elect of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky. This was stated by the press secretary of the Russian President Dmitry Peskov, RBC writes referring to the Russian “Interfax”.
“Putin chose a wait-and-see attitude towards Zelensky because there is still no understanding how the new president will approach the main issues of the agenda,” Peskov said.
According to him, in particular, “it is unclear whether Ukraine’s unfriendly position vis-a-vis Russia will remain.”
Also, the Kremlin would like to understand Zelensky’s attitude towards the Minsk agreements.
“Generally, the approach is positive and there’s an expectation of cautious optimism, but there is no clarity of what happens in Kyiv,” said Peskov.
