At the Council of the European Union at the level of foreign ministers of the EU member states declare that the nonrecognition the annexation of the Crimea by Russia is a fundamental approach to the development of cooperation in the Black Sea. This is stated in the conclusions of the EU Council on involving the EU in cooperation in the Black Sea region, adopted today in Luxembourg.

“The EU Council notes the increase of the strategic importance of the Black Sea region for the EU and calls for more active participation in regional cooperation in accordance with the principles of the global strategy of the EU and the revised European Neighborhood Policy. First of all, the EU Council stresses the importance of using new opportunities for economic development, sustainability and cohesion in the region and beyond,” the report says.
