The head of the political pro-Russian opposition party “Opposition platform – For life” and Putin’s friend, Viktor Medvedchuk, said that Crimea is Ukraine, but he justified the issuance of Russian passports in the Donbas.
“I think that Crimea is also a territory of Ukraine. Why have you livened up? Haven’t I said the same?” Medvedchuk said.
At the same time, he considers it normal that the aggressor country issues its passports to the inhabitants of the occupied Donbas. “If you ask me why I am justifying Russia’s actions, I will answer you: there is no system of Ukrainian state bodies on the territory of Donetsk and Luhansk since 2014. During that time, dozens if not hundreds of thousands of people in these territories reached the age of majority. Ukraine does not issue ID cards, what should these people do?” Medvedchuk said.
