The Constitutional Court of Ukraine received a petition of 51 deputies asking them to verify compliance of the law on the Ukrainian language with the Constitution.

In the submission deputies asked to recognize that law “does not conform to the Constitution of Ukraine”.

“The provisions of a number of articles of the law violate the rights of citizens to use their mother language, restricts access of citizens, for example, to cultural products in their native language, creates an atmosphere of intolerance to linguistic diversity historically inherent in a single multinational people of Ukraine, the procedure for the use of languages of national minorities in Ukraine is not regulated… “.

According to the document, the deputies from the “Opposition Bloc” Oleksandr Dolzhenkov and the co-chairman of the “Opposition Bloc” faction of the parliament, Vadym Novynsky, are authorized representatives of the submission.
