The Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe is demanding an urgent debate on the punishment of those guilty of shooting down an aircraft of a Malaysian Airline Flight MH17 in the Donetsk region in July 2014. This is stated in the message of PACE on Twitter.
The Assembly received two requests for urgent debates. One of the requests concerns the “termination of Russian blackmail” in the context of an appeal to the Committee of Ministers “to bring Russia to responsibility for non-payment of membership dues”.
In addition, another request concerns “the obligations of all member states to ensure that persons who shot down MH17 are brought to justice”.
It is noted that PACE will decide what to do with these requests after the approval of the final agenda of the summer session today.
