Honorary Patriarch Filaret has lost canonical rights and responsibilities related to the administration of the diocese. This is stated in the decision of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine. Also, The Orthodox Church of Ukraine subjugated all the monasteries of the UOC-Kyivan Patriarchate due to the delay in this procedure by Filaret.
“Honorable Patriarch Filaret remains in the bishopric of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine, but he has lost the canonical rights and responsibilities related to the administration of the diocese,” the decision of the Synod reads.
Now, Filaret may, through a letter addressed to the head of The Orthodox Church of Ukraine Epiphany, address the Holy Synod regarding his future position in the Orthodox Church of Ukraine.
Also, the Synod admitted that assembly convened by Filaret on June 20 at St. Volodymyr’s Cathedral “did not have any authority to make decisions.”
Recall that on June 20 the Synod convened by Filaret decided to restore the UOC-Kyiv Patriarchate. Filaret also decided that the UOC-KP claims the property and funds of the liquidated church. The spokesman of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine stated that the decisions of Filaret will not have any impact on the Orthodox Church of Ukraine.” The Orthodox Church of Ukraine ousted two priests who supported Filaret.
