The Austrian Supreme Court allowed the extradition of the Ukrainian oligarch Dmitry Firtash to the United States. The final decision on the extradition of the oligarch must be approved by the Minister of Justice of the country.
In his decision, the Austrian Supreme Court judge noted that the court did not consider Firtash’s guilt in this case. It only considered compliance with the legislation and procedure for extradition. Thus, the court ruled that the decision to extradite Firtash does not violate Austrian law.
Firtash was arrested in Austria on March 12, 2014 at the request of the US authorities. The oligarch was accused of giving a bribe of $ 18.5 million to obtain a titanium extraction permit in India.
