Britain will allocate 9 million pounds to support independent media in Ukraine. This was stated by Foreign Minister Tariq Ahmad during his visit to Canada, where the third reform conference in Ukraine takes place.
“We are strengthening our support for independent media in Ukraine within the framework of a new project worth £ 9 million, which will increase society’s resilience to disinformation and help increase the government’s accountability through the development of independent media in Ukraine and in all countries of the Eastern Partnership,” Ahmad said.
According to him, in Britain it is well understood that a prosperous independent media environment, which includes public service broadcasting, is the basis of a stable, successful democracy.
In total, over the next year, Britain puts more than £ 37 million in support of reforms in Ukraine in the areas of defense, anti-corruption and humanitarian activities, as well as empowerment, in particular women’s rights.
