President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky commented on the announced by Russian TV channels teleconference between Russia 24 and pro-Russian NewsOne, urging Ukrainians not to be manipulated. In addition, Zelensky turned to Putin, inviting him for a conversation in Minsk with Trump, Merkel, Macron and May.
“The announced teleconference is just a cheap but dangerous PR campaign before the election, which aims to divide us into two camps. In one camp politicians will talk about peace and “fraternal people”. In the second one, they will be outraged and, under disguise of patriotism, they are going to earn extra points for the elections. Also, they are going to crush TV channels, create a picture for Russian television. Then, the first camp politicians will say, “stop tolerate this junta”. All this will let Russia to appeal to the international community and talk about lifting the sanctions,” the president said.
Zelensky urged to remain calm and not be exposed to provocations, promising a propper reaction from the authorities. Separately, the president turned to journalists, stressing that they are the fourth power and “servants of the people”. After this, the President proposed Putin to hold a joint meeting, where Crimea and Donbas issues will be discussed.
“We need to talk? So lets talk. About the Crimea, and who is, or who isn’t in the Donbas. I propose the following company: I, you, Donald Trump, Angela Merkel, Emmanuel Macron and Theresa May. We don’t change or abandon diplomatic formats. We offer to talk,” Zelensky said, adding that the meeting could take place in Minsk.
